Voters Don’t Trust Polls Very Much
After most public opinion polls missed on last year’s presidential election result, a majority of voters don’t put much trust in polls – and a plurality suspect pollsters were trying to help Democrat Kamala Harris’s campaign.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 10% of Likely U.S. Voters have a lot of trust in public opinion polls sponsored by TV networks and other major media organizations, while another 33% say they have some trust in media polls. However, a majority (51%) either have not very much trust (34%) or no trust at all (17%) in major media polls. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,083 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on April 23-24 and 27, 2025 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
