44% Give Obama Positive Marks On Leadership
Voter perceptions of President Obama’s leadership skills remain relatively stable.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that 44% view the president as a good or excellent leader while 36% rate his leadership as poor. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Those figures are little changed from a month ago when 46% said good or excellent and 34% said poor. Two weeks prior to the Osama bin Laden killing, the president’s ratings in this area were a bit lower.
The latest findings are more in line with the president’s ratings over the past two years. When he first took office, 64% gave Obama good or excellent marks for leadership. Those positives fell into the 40s by July 2009 and have generally remained in that range ever since.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on June 18-19, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
