Republicans and Trump supporters strongly agree that radical Islam is the bigger threat, but Democrats and Clinton voters tend to rate Russia as just as big a danger.

Are Americans Tuning Out the NFL Over Protests?

A sizable number of Americans say they may give the National Football League a pass this year, thanks to the player protests over racial issues. 

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that nearly one-third (32%) of American Adults say they are less likely to watch an NFL game because of the growing number of Black Lives Matter protests by players on the field. Only 13% say they are more likely to watch a game because of the protests. Just over half (52%) say the protests have no impact on their viewing decisions. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Voters Say Pipelines Can Be Built Without Hurting Environment

Opponents of the Dakota Access Pipeline, set to run oil from the Dakotas to Illinois, got the project temporarily shut down last week. Tribal nations and green groups argue that the pipeline will destroy cultural and environmental sites, but voters believe it’s entirely possible to build a pipeline like this without doing that kind of damage.

California is seeking an Obamacare waiver from the federal government so that illegal immigrants can buy health insurance through the state’s health care exchange. But most voters don’t support a similar effort where they live.

Citing financial losses, several major health insurers have announced plans to back out of the state exchanges set up under President Obama’s national health care law, leaving many Americans with fewer insurance options and higher rates. More than ever say they or an immediate family member has gotten coverage through the exchanges, but voters don’t think taxpayers should help offset any jump in rates they may experience because of the exit of these companies.

Most Still Question Iran Nuclear Deal

Opponents of the Iran nuclear deal reached last year are accusing the Obama administration of paying a secret ransom to Iran after it was revealed that the United States sent $400 million in cash on the same day four U.S. detainees were released by the Iranian government. The president denies the ransom allegations, saying the payment was related to an older dispute, but most voters continue to express pessimism about the nuclear deal.
