POLITICAL COMMENTARY

Another Independence Day Approaches

A Commentary By Brian C. Joondeph

Independence Day, celebrated on July 4 of every year, is a national holiday commemorating the ratification of the Declaration of Independence, which established the United States of America, gaining freedom from British subjugation and tyranny.

A song of the same name was named Country Music Song of the Year in the mid-1990s, performed by Martina McBride, celebrating an abused woman’s freedom from a brutal husband.

Will January 20 be yet another Independence Day for freedom-seeking Americans against an abusive and tyrannical federal government?

Tyranny starts slowly and then moves quickly. Shortly after signing the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Franklin answered the question, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" with, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

During my lifetime, I have witnessed a U.S. President and his presidential candidate brother being assassinated by what many believe to be the government they served. Numerous wars have been fought, squandering American lives and resources, often initiated under false pretenses, benefiting the military-industrial complex and politicians.

Over the past two decades, tyranny has accelerated as America was “fundamentally changed," as promised by a recent U.S. President. The government has taken over much of the healthcare system, cultural deviancy has been supported and funded, and the justice and intelligence agencies have shifted from protecting America to intimidating and destroying political opponents.

In recent years, we have had a president in name only. His staff and the corporate media finally acknowledged the obvious: President Joe Biden has never been cognitively capable of serving as president. Instead, he has been shielded and coddled like a toddler by an enabling staff and media, raising the question of who has been running the country for the past four years.

The current administration has opened America’s borders to anyone and everyone without health or criminal vetting, allowing hordes of unskilled, illiterate, and often unhealthy individuals to overburden American cities and towns while, in many cases, terrorizing and murdering U.S. citizens.

The administration is provoking the world’s largest nuclear power into World War Three. We attempt to secure other countries’ borders while ignoring our own. COVID-19 was a leaning tower of lies, from its origins to its treatments, vaccines, and their side effects, in an effort to enrich Big Pharma and manipulate a presidential election.

Speaking out against any of this risks social or criminal prosecution. Where is the next generation of founding fathers to say “enough”?

Along came a brash Queens real estate developer with a larger-than-life personality, challenging the status quo while riding down an escalator in his Fifth Avenue building in June 2015.

He surprised everyone, including himself, by winning the presidency in 2016. However, he faced enormous opposition from the government he was supposedly in charge of, which successfully denied him a second presidential term.

The next four years were difficult, extremely difficult, fostering a groundswell of support for Make America Great Again, and Donald Trump was reelected in a modern-day landslide, defeating an incompetent last-minute opponent, a corrupt media, and a federal government intent on defying the will of the people to preserve their perks and power.

What do Americans think? Rasmussen Reports asked that question of likely U.S. voters.

The answer was unsurprising and clear. “Most voters say nothing President Joe Biden did during the past four years helped them, and nearly half believe he ranks among America’s worst presidents.”

Going further, “Just two weeks before he leaves the White House, 54% say that since Biden became president, he has not enacted any policy that made their life better. Thirty-four percent (34%) say Biden’s policies have made their life better, and 11% are not sure.”

Who thinks life is better? Here are some. “Senate report showing only 6% of federal workers show up in person on a full-time basis.” How many are actually working, not sitting on a beach eating ice cream like their boss spent much of his time?

Another Rasmussen Reports survey noted that 40% of Americans say their financial situation has worsened in the past six months, while only 19% now say their finances have improved.

When comparing Trump and Biden at the same points in their respective presidencies, the Rasmussen Reports Daily Presidential Tracking Poll on January 7 shows a total approval rating of 49% for Trump and 44% for Biden, who is lagging behind.

If you want other opinions, Monmouth University polling agrees. “A majority of Americans say they are optimistic about the policies President-elect Trump will pursue in his incoming administration, according to a new poll from Monmouth University.”

The Real Clear Politics average poll of Trump’s transition shows approval +11.2 over disapproval.

Inauguration day is just two weeks away. Assuming that enemies, both foreign and domestic, don’t eliminate Trump during this time, and that Biden’s handlers don’t provoke a nuclear war or another pandemic, and that the Senate swiftly approves Trump’s cabinet and allows them to get to work, we might have another Independence Day to celebrate in the future, January 20, 2025.
