Americans Prefer North American Travel

Canada Most Likely Foreign Travel Destination

Americans aren't champing at the bit to go to Europe. But many have plans to travel to Canada, or are at least thinking about it.

A Rasmussen Reports nationwide survey of America's travel plans shows that when departing for foreign lands, we often prefer to stick to the North American continent, and to journey north of the border rather than south.

Canada, with the advantage of being both next-door and English-speaking, is on at least the mental itinerary of almost half of those we surveyed. Half of that near-half, 24%, say such a trip is Very Likely, and 24% say it's Somewhat Likely.
