CA Workers’ Confidence Up, but Hiring at All-Time Low
Worker confidence edged up in California, as the state’s Hudson Employment Index (SM) climbed 1.9 points to 102.2 in September. An increase in most factors triggered the up-tick, but hiring expectations fell to a record low this month. California’s latest monthly measure of worker confidence is five and a half points shy of last September’s Index. The national Index, based on responses from approximately 9,000 workers across the country, declined for the second consecutive month in September, falling 2.1 points to 97.1.
