Worries About Gas Prices Have Eased
Americans are now paying about 50 cents a gallon less for gasoline than they were a few months ago, but many still think the price could go up again.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 34% of American Adults say that, over the past six months, the price of gasoline in their area has gone up, while 18% say the price has gone down, and 38% say the gasoline price in their area has stayed about the same. Ten percent (10%) are not sure. The number who say they’re paying more has declined sharply from 61% in May 2024. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,311 American Adults was conducted on February 16-18, 2025 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.over the next six months.
