What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls - Week Ending December 14, 2024

In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:

- President Biden ended the polling week with a daily job approval of 46%.

- Donald Trump was elected president after a campaign during which he frequently said that various officials, including Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden, should be prosecuted and punished for wrongdoing. Voters are divided over what it would mean if Trump keeps those promises.

 - President Joe Biden’s decision to issue a blanket pardon to his son Hunter Biden has tarnished the president’s legacy, most voters believe.

 - Even though most voters don’t blame Kamala Harris for Democrats losing the 2024 election, they also don’t think she’s the best choice for Democrats in the next election.

 - Donald Trump’s choice of Pam Bondi to be America’s next Attorney General gets a very positive reaction from Republican voters.

 - The overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s dictatorship in Syria could give way to rule by Islamic radicals, most American voters believe.

 - The popularity of Pope Francis has declined In the nearly 12 years since he became head of the worldwide Catholic Church.

 - The annual Christmas holiday season is too much about money, most Americans believe.

 - National unemployment was 9.1% in this month’s Rasmussen Reports Real Unemployment update, up a full point from 8.1% last month and significantly more than double the 4.2% rate officially reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics today.

 - Thirty-one percent (31%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
