20% Say Country Heading in Right Direction

Just 20% of American voters believe the United States is heading in the right direction while 74% say the nation has gotten off on the wrong track. The number who say we’re heading in the right direction has declined from 27% a year ago and from 43% in Election 2004. Republican responses to this question have changed little over the past year, but pessimism has grown among Democrats and unaffiliated voters.
